This past weekend all 3 teams were in action. On Saturday, the Juniors travelled down the QEW to Buffalo to play the Fenians. An assortment of players went down, featuring a father-son combo in Paul and Conor McElvanna, and the boys came home with a win 1-12 to 2-04. The club would like to thank the Fenians GAA Club for the game and the food they put on for afterwards.
On Sunday, the Senior men took the field against St. Pats. With a strong first half, the men were up 1-10 to 0-1. However, a very disappointing second half saw the men score only 2 points. Luckily, Pats were only able to muster up a single point and so the men kept their undefeated streak alive, winning 1-12 to 0-2.
Finally, the ladies played against Durham, their last game before a 3 week hiatus. The girls had a strong start and were able to play some of their newcomers as a result in the second half, winning easily, 5-10 to 3-06.
As mentioned, the ladies will not be in action again until the annual Ottawa trip on July 10th. The juniors also have next week off. However, in what promises to be the game of the year so far, the Senior men will face off against St. Vincents in what is always a tough, hard fought game. That game will be played at 3:45pm so make sure you're out to support the club!

With only one result to report from this weekend, I'll keep this short and sweet. The Junior mens team took the field for the second time this year against Brampton. WIth a strong start, Mikes lead 0-8 to 1-2 at halftime. However, the men kicked it away with a number of turnovers and wides in the second half. With a late goal, they made it close, but they fell short by a point, losing 2-08 to 1-10.
Next week the juniors will travel to Buffalo to play, while the senior men will play St. Pats, and the ladies play Durham.

This weekend, the ladies and both mens teams were in action at Centennial Park. The first game of the day featured the mens B team playing the Toronto Gaels. Rebounding from a weak effort last weekend, the "Killer Bs" put a beating on the Toronto Gaels 3-08 to 1-06. Following this strong showing from the boys, the ladies took the field against Brampton. Having not played them in two years, the girls didn't know what to expect. After a slow start with a load of wides, the ladies bounced back with a strong effort, beating Brampton easily 3-10 to 1-03. Finally, the senior men played a short Durham squad. Playing 13-a-side, the men get off to a strong start, leading 1-09 to 0-2 at the half. Although they let up a bit in the second half, the men took home the win easily in this one, 1-15 to 0-08.
Overall it was a great day at the Park once again and a great day for St. Mikes as a club. Next week the senior men and the ladies have a bye, while the juniors take on Brampton in what should be a tight contest, at 2:30pm. Hope to see you all out supporting the club and the GAA!

This weekend marked the opening of the 2010 Toronto GAA season and St. Mikes had 3 teams playing to kick things off.
The ladies played two games over the course of the weekend, winning one and losing one. The first game took place on Saturday against Ottawa. With a lot of new girls to both the team and the game, the ladies weren't sure what to expect. The Ottawa Gaels fielded a strong team led by Breda Kelly and her 2 goals and 6 points. The Gaels took the game by a score of 4-12 to 0-10.
The second game saw the ladies playing Michael Cusacks on Sunday, the official 'Opening Day' for the season. The ladies started off slow once again but picked up the pace during the latter half of the game and, with a goal from Tressa McMaster, took the decision 1-10 to 1-05.
On the mens side, the junior team played a young but strong side from Brampton. With a boatload of new players and no subs on the line, the juniors came up short and lost the decision (score to follow).
The Senior team took on the Toronto Gaels in their first game of the season. The men came out strong and never looked back, beating the Gaels easily (score also to follow).
A schedule will be posted shortly, as well as photos from the weekend action.
