This
Saturday, June 28th, St Mike's will be holding their annual Denis Leyne
tournament at the Crusaders Rugby Club in Oakville.
The day is set to be a full family affair as both minor and senior competitions

senior teams is set for 11am with the games beginning at 12 noon. A skills
competition will also be held later on in the day for those wishing to finally

This past weekend, both the men and womens teams travelled to Ottawa to play the Ottawa Gaels. With lots of new faces taking the field for the men, it took awhile for the chemistry to happen. However, once it happened, the men started taking control of the game and beat the strong squad from Ottawa 2-12 to 0-6.
The ladies, playing with only 13, were overmatched against a very strong Ottawa side. The ladies stepped up in the second half and began to dominate. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and the women dropped their 3rd game of the season. The loss hurt but the loss of Ciara Fitzsimons will hurt even more as she fractured her hand in the first half. The ladies will be in action next Sunday vs Brampton, with the men taking on Brampton as well.

On what was a scorcher of a day at Centennial Park, both St. Mikes mens and ladies teams were in action.
With a number of new additions to the men's team, St. Mikes took on the Toronto Gaels. After a slow start in the first half, the men's fitness allowed them to pull ahead of the Gaels and beat them easily 3-12 to 0-4. Top scorer was Paul Loughnane and new comer Johnathan McDermott dominated the middle of the field.
The ladies team took on a top notch squad from Durham. They put in a great defensive effort but could not shut down the strong Durham side and fell 0-25 to 1-1. Both teams will be travelling to Ottawa next week.

Yesterday was the season opener for the Toronto GAA and it was a very busy day at the park.
The St. Mikes men took on St. Vincents in a rematch of last years final and drew in a tight, sloppy game. Mikes were up in the first half but faltered in the second half and Vincents tied it up in the last 5 minutes for the draw. Final score: St. Mikes 1-4, St. Vincents 0-7.
The St. Mikes ladies played their first game under new managers Sinead MacElvanna and Sean Harte and put in a great effort against Michael Cusacks. With a plethora of new players, the girls had a great game and lost by a mere 6 points against a strong Cusacks side.
