Yesterday the men played in the only game at Centennial for this weekend. After getting the field ready, the cooperation between the two teams was over and a tough game ensued. Mikes held a lot of possession and were down at half. However, they came out with a strong effort in the second half and took the lead, only to see it slip away in the last few minutes when Vincents scored a goal and two points to ice it. The final score was 1-10 to 0-11 as Mikes saw their second loss in a row in the league. The men have their final league game next weekend against Durham and will then head into the championship.
The ladies won their game by default when Brampton surprisingly could not field a team.

This past weekend, both the mens and ladies teams travelled to Ottawa to play against the Gaels. After a long bus ride down, the men got ready to play. The men were never at their best the whole game and it was obvious that they wouldn't win this game from the beginning. Down 5 points at half, the men made a brief charge at the beginning of the second half but couldn't close the gap and ended up losing 0-15 to 0-11.
However, the women's team were determined not to suffer the same fate. After a close first half, the ladies finally pulled away from a strong Ottawa side in the second half and once again put up a big score, winning 4-16 to 3-9.
Due to the strike, both the mens and ladies games are in question for Sunday. However, should the games go on, the men will play Durham, looking to bounce back with a strong performance, while the ladies are scheduled to play Brampton.

Due to permit issues stemming from the City of Toronto strike, the Denis Leyne Youth Tournament has been cancelled. Should the club decide to reschedule the tournament, they will send out a notice and information will be posted here. However, due to the nature of the Toronto GAA Championship schedule, chances are the Denis Leyne will not resume until 2010.

Our annual Denis Leyne Tournament will be held on
Saturday, July 4th at Centennial Park, and will solely be a youth tournament this year.
There will be a competition for
players in the age categories of Under 10, 12, 14 and 16. As well as
the games we are planning other side activities to ensure all
children and spectators can get involved; making it a great day for the
entire family.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact us at

Today the ladies were the only St. Mikes team in action as they took on Michael Cusacks in a rematch of their first game of the year. With many new girls out playing their first game, the ladies were excited to play and came ready to win. After a slow start in the first half, the ladies charged out in the second half and dominated play, eventually winning by a final score of 3-20 to 2-4.
Both mens teams weren't in action. The seniors' next game will be in Ottawa on July 11th, while the juniors rescheduled their game with Buffalo in Buffalo for July 18th.
